Skin Screening

It’s well known that Australia is the skin cancer capital of the world. With the volume of employees in the resources sector that work outdoors, it is vital that employers conduct skin cancer checks on all staff on a periodic basis as part of a responsible approach to workplace occupational health and safety.

Emxed WA is able to provide skin cancer screening and where need be, refer employees to their regular GP or provide referral to a relevant specialist.

There is no better prevention from skin cancer than adequate measures taken by employees to protect their skin from harmful UV rays from the sun.

Employers should always be mindful of workers taking appropriate measure to protect themselves including:

• Wearing of appropriate clothes such as long sleeve shirts
• Always wearing of hats when outside
• Use of sunglasses to protect the eyes
• Regular application of UV plus sunscreen
